The University's leading auditioned choirs, Birmingham University Singers and University Upper Voices give their autumn concert with Bob Chilcott and Mariana Rosas at the helm. In a programme featuring a newly commissioned piece of music from Bob we also hear music from local composer, Liz Dilnot Johnson, and from former University staff member, the late John Joubert.

Lighten Our Darkness is part of Liz's Ivors award-winning work When A Child Is A Witness - Requiem for Refugees premiered at Coventry Cathedral. This piece combines words from the Book of Common Prayer with words from teenage asylum seekers living in Coventry.

You can hear the mixed voices version of Lighten Our Darkness here, sung by Ex Cathedra, the choir with which Liz is composer-in-residence.

Venue: University of Birmingham, Elgar Concert Hall

Conductors: Mariana Rosas and Bob Chilcott
