Harpist Victoria Davies and her new contemporary music group Finisterre Collective have commissioned Johnson to co-create a substantial new work: 'Feel Sense Sound' incorporating movement, live electronics and music inspired by words from non-speaking autists on the theme of communication and barriers to communication.
Liz will be on an artist's residency in Amsterdam with the group in early November, with performances planned in 2027 in the Netherlands and UK.
'I have recently discovered the world of 'spelling' - a communication method for non-speaking people with autism. This technique, using an alphabet board or iPad, allows individuals to communicate their inner thoughts and ideas. I am very excited to be able to collaborate with several young people in the UK who are able to communicate in this way. Their words and ideas will shape and inform this new work in unexpected and thought-provoking ways that will be expressed through music, sound, live electronics and dance.' Liz Dilnot Johnson
